Port Austin Butterfly House & Gardens
A community butterfly garden in Water Tower Park — free to visit.
The Port Austin Butterfly House & Gardens is a community butterfly garden and house in Water Tower Park (corner of Madison & Adams), downtown. Run by the Greater Port Austin Area Chamber of Commerce, it is free to visit (donations accepted). Seasonal butterfly releases begin in late June — with a large public release the Friday before the Fourth of July — and continue through summer, with the butterflies released into the wild in early October. Inside are benches, a bubbler fountain, and local art displays; the grounds include Robert Sestok's sculpture "Ode to the American Farmer." Private one-hour releases are available for birthdays, anniversaries, and memorials.
