The Breakwall

A half-mile walkable pier into Lake Huron — fishing and sunsets.

The Port Austin breakwall extends just under a half-mile straight out into Lake Huron from Veterans Waterfront Park and is billed as the longest walkable breakwall on Michigan's Thumbcoast. Paved with railings and accessible, it is one of the area's most popular spots for fishing and for sunrise and sunset walks, with views of the Port Austin Reef Light about 2.5 miles offshore. It is a federal navigation structure protecting Port Austin Harbor.
